Dry Tortugas

A pre-Christmas adventure to Dry Tortugas National Park. We dashed down to Key West after school let out on Wednesday, watched the sunset from Mallory Square on Thursday and departed for Garden Key early on Friday morning. For three days we toured Fort Jefferson, enjoyed lots of snorkeling, explored Garden Key, wrangled hermit crabs and watched the sunset from our nearly private beach behind the campground. Highlights of the snorkeling included barracuda, trunk fish and a very large manta ray. There was also some amazing birding with frigate birds, a peregrine falcon and a variety of warblers.
