Big Bald Bird Banding
Sam's class made the second of two trips to Big Bald Wednesday to visit the fall migration bird banding station. The research is led by Mr. Mark who did a great job engaging 21 fidgety fourth graders.
The main activity was collecting data on the songbirds that were captured that morning in the mist nets. Each was weighed and measured. The class got up close to Slate colored Juncos, Tennessee Warblers, a Swainson's Thrush. a Downy Woodpecker, Sharpshinned hawks and a Ruby-crowned Kinglet.
