Chapter Man

Tonight Sam finished his very first 'big kid' chapter book, Ghost Town at Sundown, #10 in the Magic Tree House series.

ALF'd

I'm back from a rejuvenating week in E. Tennessee courtesy of my lovely wife. In the sub-culture of whitewater paddlers there is a sub-sub-culture of c-boaters, folks that paddle canoes of various kinds. And in this community there is one particular character named Louie who lives in the vicinity of Lenoir City, TN. A few years back a group of c-boaters gathered for a week of paddling and decided to make it a yearly affair but keep it informal and so was born the Ain't Louie Fest (ALF).

Mame took the week off to spend with the boys and sent me over the border for the week. The weather was a bit dreary but the rivers were up and we had some great days of paddling. I even got to log some new runs on Clear Creek, the Obed River, and, my new favorite, the Little River (in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park).

Out on the Parkway

We got out for a Sunday afternoon walk last month on a stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway that was closed due to the snow and ice. We took a break and Ford got in touch with the pavement.

Peek-a-boo x 2

Yesterday, mom walked in the door from work put down her bag, took off her coat and scarf and sat right down with the babies to say hello. A few moments later, Ford picked up the scarf, hid behind it, dropped it back down and started giggling. He repeated a few more times before getting distracted and crawling away. Then Jack came right over, picked up the scarf and proceeded to play peek-a-boo with mom.

What was predicted to be 1-2 inches turned into 4-5 inches yesterday.

It was good, sticky snow and Sam discovered he could make some very large clumps by starting at the top of the hill and going down. At least he had the sense to start at the top.
