The 10th

It's been ten years since that warm May afternoon in Monticello, FL when we got hitched in the gazebo down on Willow Pond.

To celebrate Mame arranged a quiet mountain weekend in what is soon to be our extended backyard. We had a lovely little room at the Alpine Inn near Little Switzerland. The best ammenity was a great view - this picture is the sunrise as seen from our balcony.

The Inn sits on a ridge just below the Blueridge Parkway. On the way up we stopped for a hike into Crabtree Falls just off the parkway.

Meanwhile, Sam celebrated with Dandy and Grandaddy Frank in Sylva. They took in a model train show in Waynesville, played with Frank's train set, rode the Big Wheel and picniced by the river. We met back up Monday for lunch in Old Fort, home of this attractive monument.

And what a full and blessed 10 years it has been! We do delight in your family and all your accomplishments and adventures! Many more blessings in the years to come!
Love!

Hi Mame,

Well this was fun to find that Donna is doing well! (We're kidding - while we love to come visit your blog to read up on the Fleming's - we also can check to be sure that our MIA colllege bud is alive & well!) Meantime, congrats on your so many accomplishmetns & good luck with the move to Asheville. I was there last winter touring the Biltmore & loved the quaint part of town where we roamed meantime. Beautiful part of the state! Did you know that Betsy (our youngest daughter) teaches at St Michael's in Cary? They live, however, in Durham about 3 minutes from Duke, where her husband is doing his residency. They have 2 more years there & will then back closer to family. Please tell your mom hello for both Sherry & me, and that we can't wait to see her in Septemebr on the annual beach trip! Keep us all posted - we love reading all the news! Much Love - Carole Byrd
