Sam's first game & he was the winner.

Mame made it home from Guatemala late Saturday night. Today the brothers decided to all sport their snazzy new Guatemalan soccer jerseys.

The trip went well. She worked with a good group of volunteers. Despite some challenges with outdated anesthesia equipment, all of the surgeries went smoothly. She is still absorbing the experience but is happy to be home with her boys and grateful to work in modern medical facilities.

Driving downtown  to Sam's piano lesson on Wednesday we passed a group of folks and a police officer looking up at a critter in a tree. Curious we circled the block and confirmed that it was a black bear cub.

It was a block from the music school and we walked over when Sam was done to get a closer look. Turned out the cub had been there most of the day. The officer was on hand for crowd control in case the mama bear came back. We have had some mild weather and it appears the bears are rousing from their slumber.
