A boy's daydream come true.
Out and about this morning and we came across 4 fire trucks parked outside the downtown fire station. A couple of laps later we had to hop back into the mini-van when it came time for one truck to leave.

Welcome Nanna!
Great grandmother Dotti Ross moved from Winter Haven to Asheville in early January. She is settling in to her new apartment at Deerfield and enjoying regular visits with the boys. (Ford & Sam)

I scraped the waterfall
As 2011 came to a close we took a detour on our way to see the grandparents in Slick Rock for a waterfall hike in Pisgah National Forest. The familiar sounding Slick Rock Falls was a short drive from US 276 and almost in view from the parking area off the forest road. We had a pleasant little stroll and explored at the base of the falls. While there, Ford slipped on a wet rock and got a slight abrasion on his leg. We moved on and had a picnic while searching for another waterfall.
The funny part is that almost every day since, without fail, Ford has repeated his cry of, "I scraped the waterfall." Sometimes it accompanies a bump or scrape of another kind but sometimes it is just a matter of fact statement. Future grist for his therapist, perhaps?

A belated Happy New Year
The holiday season has come and gone and what a great time we all had. Most of the decorations are boxed up and we're down to a simple tree with lights in our living room. Ford & Jack are mystified that we aren't keeping all the decorations out for them to enjoy.
It was a wonderful couple of weeks with visits from all directions. We had a pre-Christmas turkey dinner with cousin Livi, Lindsay, Grandpa Bunk and Ms. Jane, so he could be back in Atlanta for his last jaunt to Guam on the day after Christmas. Christmas Eve Grandpa Glenn, Grandma Maxine and Uncle Jake rolled in for the now traditional baking of the empanadas. Uncle Jake stuck around for the Christmas morning chaos and we were joined a little later by Dandy, Granddaddy Frank and Uncle Ross. Lots of gifts and good cheer but best of all was the chance to share with all our loved ones. Best wishes for 2012.
