Farmer Sam
Sam had a squash he wanted to enter in this year's fair. The big one to his left.
We signed him up for the youth category and learned that we probably should have gone for the biggest squash category instead. He did not place and only got a pale blue participant ribbon. He's motivated for next year though and the bitter taste of defeat was easily removed with a caramel apple with rainbow sprinkles.

SGI
Two weeks ago (it's taken awhile to get settled back in) we took a week to trek to St. George Island, FL.
It was quite the adventure with lots of visits coming and going, a misadventure with a pop-up camper, a great find of a condo on the beach, sunny weather/stormy weather, a check engine light in the van on the way home and a call from an Asheville neighbor that the horn was going off in the car we left in the driveway.
But it was a great time overall.
Sam did some major league digging in the sand.
Ford and Jack got their first taste of the beach, literally. It happened to be the week that they learned to roll over and Ford in particular wouldn't stay on the blanket.

Bumbo brothers
Jack and Ford try out their new Bumbo seats. The old 8mm film feel is courtesy of the video recorder on my phone.

Jack and Ford's new wheels
Our new two-seater jog stroller arrived. We took it out yesterday for the inaugural spin around the neighborhood.
Celebrating Seven
Last Sunday we celebrated Sam's 7th birthday at Slick Rock. There was a great crowd and lots of good fun. Thanks to Grandma Maxine for hosting everyone, Grandpa Glenn for the homemade strawberry ice cream, Dandy for the pineapple upside down cake and everyone else for making it such a fun day.
Despite the sunshine from Mr. Pinata, the only cloud on the day was a big one that prevented us from going for a swim in the pond.
